The bigger picture – the kitchen is close to the home's dining area.

The dining table top is in herringbone parquet, like the floor installed in the bedroom area, giving it continuity.

Reaching the end of that hall, you now enter into one shared social space – taking in the dining room, kitchen and lounge.

Part of the design brief was to make sure that the kitchen blended successfully into the open plan living area and that it would look like attractive furniture.

This kitchen is about good company in terms of people as well as materials – the chef can talk to the guests and look at the views beyond them at the same time.

The layout allows the space to open up for indoor/outdoor entertaining with large glass bi-fold doors that connect the kitchen, dining and sunken living areas to the front deck – for a light, airy feel.

Clerestory windows climb into the space made available by the gabled roof form – ensuring a light-filled living, dining and kitchen space.

Elegant and gracious interior spaces, such as this glass-wall surrounded dining area, offer an abundance of natural light and strong indoor-outdoor connections.

The owners approached Landmark Homes about the possibility of building the Showhome plan they liked but with changes that would make it perfectly suit them.

The kitchen and dining area incorporates statement Madame Brass pendants, which define the dining area from the open plan kitchen.

The vertical symmetrical shiplap-clad forms hide an existing structural post that the architect needed to retain.

Elimination of the entry hall and suppression of several walls provided a vast integrated living/ kitchen/dining room with views of Buenos Aires Square.

Wood floors and wood cabinetry bring a natural feel to the dining/kitchen living space that opens to the covered outdoor room with room-height sliders.

The designer was engaged to design and fully fit out the interiors for the whole renovation – kitchen, dining, living, bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry and deck areas.

King Arthur would have liked this – the custom designed organic shaped 10-seater dining table is intended not to have a head of the table so all family members or guests are seen as equal.

When arriving at the lake house, the kitchen is immediately to your left, so it needed to provide a sense of arrival and a generous welcome.

The kitchen is at the end of a large living and dining space reinforced with visually dominant recycled bridge beams. The kitchen had to respond to that spatial context and be well grounded with its layout.
