MOBILE

When you’re choosing a new toilet, it’s easy to focus on looks. But how it feels matters just as much, and there’s really only one way to find out. Jennifer Price, Strategic Brands Manager for Plumbing World, says it’s not just allowed to sit on a display toilet, it’s actually encouraged.

“I’d encourage people to go into a showroom and sit on a toilet because everybody’s different.” Comfort-height, compact, elongated or round. The options vary, and so does the feel. Sitting on different styles helps you compare what works for your height, mobility and space.

It might feel awkward at first, but it’s no different to testing a chair or a bed. Just keep your shoes on, keep the lid down and check how easy it is to sit and stand. You’ll notice the difference in height and shape straight away.

Most floor-mounted toilets are fine to test. Wall-hung toilets might not be fully secured in the display, so always check with staff before sitting. But in general, trying before buying is a smart step, especially for something you’ll use every day for years to come.
